1.Why does Vikas Swarup choose the name "Ram Mohammed Thomas" for his protagonist?

I think the reason why Vikas Swarup chose the name "Ram Mohammed Thomas" for his protagonist was to give a sense of how people identify each other in India. Your religion determined a part of your name, which was used to identify your religion by other people. This was how Salim was identified on a bus by a group of Hindu rioters as Muslim. However, in the protagonist's case, no one can identify his religion by his name and therefore he has no real "identity".
